I received serious head injury when the post-election demonstration I was covering on July 1 riot in Ulaanbaatar. The head wound was under severe condition. I was admitted to the Orthopaedic Trauma Centre in Ulaanbaatar, where I underwent immediate epidural haematoma surgery to remove bone fragments lodged in my brain. Thanks to an urgent surgery made by doctors and nurses in Trauma Center, my life was saved. Then it required the second stage treatment or further surgery in procedures only available in foreign countries. |

New draft law on Freedom of Information available

Re-drafting the Freedom of Information law in accordance with several recommendations on the previous law draft by civil society organizations was agreed during meeting of P.Erdenjargal, executive director of OSF and Kh.Naranjargal, President of Globe International with some law initiators on January 7, 2009. The new draft law is available now.

Empowering Public Council - new project started

Goal of the new project is to assist in empowering Public Council that is able to take remarkable contributions to the ACA duties to curb corruption. We anticipate that after six months we will achieve the following objectives:
- Public Council members and civil society groups educated on the efficient Public Council - Recommendations on better legislation and rules regulating the Public Council’s efficient functioning produced - Better cooperation between Public Council, NGOs and other civil society organizations enhanced and strengthened - The public properly informed on PC existence and their participation increased |

Journalists invited to Business Reporting Training course

Globe International will hold a four-day business reporting training course in January 2009 in Ulaanbaatar. The course organisers plan to invite journalists from 8 provinces and Ulaanbaatar who are predicted to be future core news suppliers. The training course is part of the Internews Europe and Globe International project “Business Roaming.” |

Globe International joined to the GFMD

Globe International is now only member organization of the Global Forum for Media Development. Some 100 media assistance organisations from 70 countries have joined the Global Forum for Media Development. The GFMD was launched as a membership network at its World Conference in Athens in December. |
