The first meeting was organized on February 6, 2009 at the conference room of the National Legal Center. It involved 25 participants represented the Anti-corruption Agency, PC members, National Human Rights Commission and NGOs.

A total of 94 billboards and banners installed in the most frequented streets in the Mongolia capital, Ulaanbaatar displayed eye-catching banners and billboards which contained references to the Mongolia Constitution and Media Freedom Law as well as international declarations on freedom of opinion and expression, public’s right to know and independent press. |

Progress Report

Globe International has started the project “Monitoring Press Freedom and Supporting Independent Media in Mongolia” since October 2008. The present reported period is October 1, 2008 and March 31, 2009. Main goal of the project is to promote greater democratisation and openness in Mongolia by campaigning for the public’s right to have access to free and uncensored news and government information.

Empowering Public Council to Curb Government Corruption

Local reporters voiced at “Freedom of Information-Mongolia” documentary film

Australian journalist Kitty Hamilton, who is working in Mongolia at the invitation of the Press Institute, performed his shooting of documentary film “Freedom of Information-Mongolia” in Ovorkhangai province. The journalist got au fait with working environment of local reporters and exchanged views on freedom of information. Local reporters spoke about freedom of information in Mongolia whether it exists in local area, and what kind of pressure they have, who make it etc.
