First-ever session of Mongolian Science Journalists’ Club

The Mongolian Science Journalists’ Club, established at the initiative of some scholars in Mongolia, convened its first-ever session.
At the event, Dr. and Professor S. Budnyam delivered a report on “Is there a need to publicize science?”  Participants discussed the Club’s structure and organizatiuon.

Globe International is starting new project titled “Curbing Corruption Through Better Access to Information” funded by the Embassy of Great Britain and North Ireland, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Access to information is essential to the health of democracy and of the main criteria underpinning government transparency. It is main tool to curb the government corruption.
Confederation of Mongolian Journalists - 3rd Congress

The Third Congress of the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists (CMJ) was held on November 6, 2008, at the Chinggis Hotel. CMJ President D. Sarangerel presented a report to the Congress, which comprised over 150 journalists from Ulaanbaatar and the 21 provinces.

Six journalists have been assaulted during the public demonstration and he riot started after the event

Globe International condemns that on July 1, 2008, six journalists have been assaulted by the riots, when they were reporting the public demonstration protested the 2008 Parliamentarian election’s results in front of the building of the post-communist party-Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Part and the riot started after few hours of the event.

We deeply regret about the violence that erupted after the public protest on July 1, 2008, leaving several people dead, many injured, and valuable public and private property destroyed, including precious cultural artifacts. We believe this violence was an extreme expression of deep-seated anger and frustration accumulated by significant sections of the society as a result of persistent injustice and corruption.
