With the support of Open Society Forum, Globe International center conducted the monitoring of Civil and Political rights violations in order to monitor whether or not measurements by the Government of Mongolia are in compliance with the principle of International Human Rights restrictions in the event of high level of disaster protection and public preparedness in response to the COVID-19.

Open letter to reject draft laws that pose a risk of shrinking civil society
On November 24, 2021, the Minister of Justice and Home Affairs (MoJHA) submitted two draft laws to the Speaker of Parliament – the draft Law on Legal Status of Associations and Law on Legal Status of Foundations (hereinafter referred to as the draft laws on Associations and Foundations). However, while drafting the bills, the MoJHA did not comply with Mongolia’s Law on Legislation as well as the Government Action Plan, which require the participation and input of citizens and civil society.

Media Freedom Report 2020 is Available Now
We are pleased to present to you our recurrent report on the state of media freedom in Mongolia. According to the Reporters without Borders (RSF) 2021 World Press Freedom Index, Mongolia is ranked at the 68th place out of 180 countries, up to 5 places from the last year, meaning that Mongolia remains a country having issues around press freedom. As of the end of 2019, there were around 500 registered media outlets that employ nearly 4750 people, half of which are journalists and creative staff, according to the Mongolian Press Institute survey.
