Media Monitoring results on presidential election /18-22 May, 2009 /

Globe International has recently released results following 5 days of monitoring between May 18 and 22 observing that: during 28,011 minutes' coverage, excluding news programs, some 8.1 percent, has provided news and information about the two candidates; 46.6 percent or 1,054 minutes in a total of 28,011 minutes has been devoted to information about Ts.Elberdorj, and 53.4 percent or 1,207 minutes-- N.Enkhbayar.

Globe International has recently released results following 5 days of monitoring between May 13 and 17 observing that: during 27,408 minutes' coverage, excluding news programs, some 5.6 percent or 1,544 minutes, has provided news and information about the two candidates; 56 percent in a total of 1,544 minutes has been devoted to information about Ts.Elberdorj, and 44 percent-- N.Enkhbayar.

Globe International sought to evaluate mass media performance in the Presidential election coverage

Globe International, an independent, non-partisan Mongolian NGO dedicated to freedom of expression and of the media, will conduct systematic monitoring of the media coverage of the May 24, 2009, presidential election. The monitoring which is supported by the Open Society Forum involves the last two weeks of media campaign of the candidates.

![]() Globe International conducted a campaign “We want to Tell the Truth, but…”dedicated to the 2009 World Press Freedom Day. The campaign started on 15 April 2009 with installation of the promotional billboard and banners in the main Ulaanbaatar streets and it involved the journalism students’ in events such as “New Generation for Fair Journalism”, the 2008 Media Freedom Report and media coverage. |
