Media Monitoring results on presidential election /18-22 May, 2009 /

Globe International has recently released results following 5 days of monitoring between May 18 and 22 observing that: during 28,011 minutes' coverage, excluding news programs, some 8.1 percent, has provided news and information about the two candidates; 46.6 percent or 1,054 minutes in a total of 28,011 minutes has been devoted to information about Ts.Elberdorj, and 53.4 percent or 1,207 minutes-- N.Enkhbayar. Compared with the previous five days results, news and information about the two candidates were increased by 1.4 times. The monitoring involves the media campaign of the candidates via Mongolian National Public Broadcasting Television, UBS, TV-5, TV-9 and TV Channel 25.

During the last five days of election campaigning, positive information about Enkhbayar had been 93.2 percent via TV-9, 67 percent through TV-5, 99.9 via UBS and 73.1 percent through TV Channel 25.

According to monitoring results, TV news programs had broadcast information about the candidates for 1,338 minutes, of which 55 percent had been about Enkhbayar, and 45 percent about Ts.Elebgdorj. It was noted that positive information about Enkhbayar had been 85.8 percent, whilst positive information about Elbegdorj had been 47.8 percent, and negative information about hum had been 34 percent.
