Confederation of Mongolian Journalists - 3rd Congress

The Third Congress of the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists (CMJ) was held on November 6, 2008, at the Chinggis Hotel. CMJ President D. Sarangerel presented a report to the Congress, which comprised over 150 journalists from Ulaanbaatar and the 21 provinces. Delegates discussed media freedom, journalists rights, ethics and self-regulation, and professional journalistic standards. Congress adopted an action plan for the next three years, and Ms D. Sarangerel was re-elected President.

The CMJ was established in 2002 with the merging of two journalist organizations:  the post-communist Union of Mongolian Journalists and the alternative Mongolian Free and Democratic Journalists Association. The CMJ is a full member of  the International Federation of Journalists.
