I am very pleased to celebrate with you the International Day for Universal Access to Information and open this important discussion.

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Globe International Center and the Independent Authority against Corruption, for keeping up this traditional initiative.

Member of the German Bundestag, Dr Christiane Schenderlein, the head of her office, Mr. Frederic Wutzler and Mr. Victor Frank, resident representative of Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Mongolia visited the office of The Globe International Center. Mrs Onon Batmunkh, The Executive director of GIC and lawyer Mr. Galbaatar Lkhagvasuren are welcomed guests and introduced the GIC avtivities.

Dear Ms. Naranjargal, 

I very much welcome this event on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day 2024. This day is a valuable opportunity for all of us to be reminded of the critical role of independent media for democracy and of the importance to uphold people’s right to access quality, fact-based information. This day should contribute to foster a whole-of-society approach in defending free and independent media, at a time where they are threatened by a growing number of abusive laws under the guise of national security, counter-terrorism or fighting ‘fake news’.

On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, the Globe International Center in collaboration with the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, with the support of the National Human Rights Commission, the European Union, and the Open Society Forum organizing a multidisciplinary discussion "A Press for the Planet: Journalism in the face of the Environmental Crisis" on May 3, 2024 at 10:00-13:00 in the conference hall of the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs.

Thank you for your kind invitation to this significant event. It is my great pleasure and honor to celebrate World Press Freedom Day alongside my esteemed colleagues in the media and journalism community in Mongolia.

The Globe International Center organized an editorial training.

The Globe International Center started the implementation of new project “Media and CSO are the true colors of vibrant democracy” with financial support of The Asia Foundation (the Foundation). 

THE MEETING OF NATIONAL NETWORK OF MEDIA LAWYERS HAS ORGANIZED

The regular meeting of the National Network of Media Lawyers, which was established on a voluntary basis to promote and protect the right to freedom of expression and the right to information, was held on March 5, 2024 at the Globe International Center, a member organization of the network. Representatives of member organizations such as the National Human Rights Commission, the Mongolian Lawyers' Association, Amnesty International-Mongolia, Press Institute of Mongolia, and The Globe International Center participated in the meeting.

The Globe International Center, in cooperation with the Open Society Forum, with the support of IFEX, organized a multi-stakeholder discussion on "Freedom of Expression and Implementation of the Right to Know-2023" on December 20, 2023.

The Globe International Center cooperated in the activities of the first edition of "Kharkhorum" international film festival organized for the first time in Mongolia.

"Kharkhorum" international film festival was organized in Ulaanbaatar on December 7-12, 2023 by Film Bridge Development Association in cooperation with the Mongolian National Film Council and with financial support of the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia. The theme of the 2023 "Kharhorum" film festival was "Human rights-75" in honor of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
