Multi-stakeholder discussion “Mainstreaming Access to Information and Participation in the Public Sector” successfully organized

The Globe International Center in cooperation with Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO and Anti-Corruption Agency with the support of Open Society Forum successfully organized a multi-stakeholder discussion “Mainstreaming Access to Information and Participation in the Public Sector” today, on 27 September 2024 to celebrate International Day of Universal Access to Information (IDUAI). 


Mr. Boldsaikhan Sambuu, General Secretary of Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, H.E. Ms. Ina Marciulionyte, EU Ambassador for Mongolia and Mrs. Naranjargal Khashkhuu, Board Chair of The Globe International Center delivered an opening speech and there participated more than 60 representatives of Mongolian government and civil society organizations, media and international organizations in Mongolia in the event. 



Mrs. D.Dulamsuren, Head of National Anti-Corruption Program Implementation Department of Anti-Corruption Agency, Mrs. L.Nyamgerel, Head of Policy Implementation Department of Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, Mr. E.Battur, Director of Information technology department of National Data center and Mr. L.Galbaatar, lawyer of The Globe International Center are delivered the presentations on specific topics.


The Globe International Center hosts different events every year to celebrate International Day of Universal Access to Information (IDUAI) and this year’s event is multi-stakeholder discussion on official topic declared by UNESCO. 


On September 28 of every year UNESCO organizes annual events on particular topic. This year it will be Global Conference on theme “Mainstreaming Access to Information and Participation in the Public Sector" on 1 to 2 October 2024 to celebrate International Day of Universal Access to Information (IDUAI) in Accra, Ghana in cooperation with Ministry of Information of the Republic of Ghana. The IDUAI 2024 Global Conference will feature a high-level inter-ministerial panel on how to improve mainstream access to information across government sectors. During this discussion, ministers will be invited to highlight the importance of an enabling environment for access to information, focusing on legal, technological, and sustainable development aspects of access to information. Additional panels held throughout the IDUAI 2024 Global Conference will focus on advancing access to information in critical sectors such as environment, health, ICTs, etc.

The outputs of the IDUAI 2024 Global Conference will conclude by the adoption of an “Accra Statement” by participants. The draft title of the Accra Statement is “Harnessing the Power of Data for Positive Change: A Commitment to Access to Information. Also there will be the launch of a publication commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Model Law on Access to Information in Africa.
