Globe International NGO wants MPs to permit journalists to research parliamentary session poll results by name

On September 22, 2010, the NGO Globe International requested Ts.Sharavdorj, head of the parliamentary office of Mongolia, to become au fait with detailed notes of sessions which discussed all laws, resolutions and other legal documents from the year 2008, and to copy some necessary documents. The request was made within the framework of the “Integrity Star” monitoring project.

In response, the parliamentary office has made the detailed notes available, but not the names of MPs who voted for or against laws and resolutions, information which normally appears in the appendix  of parliamentary session notes.

Indeed, many opportunities are already available for the public to gain information about matters discussed at plenary parliamentary sessions, and, since  parliamentary session actions are aired through the media,  there is no need to hide voting results.

For this reason, on October 27, 2010, Globe International NGO requested  by letter, that the parliamentary office grant permission to research voting results of parliamentary sessions by name.

On November 3, 2010, parliamentarians Kh.Temuujin and Ts.Monkh-Orgil replied by letter that they are ready to grant such permission.
