The Seminar will be organized by Globe International Center, a Mongolian NGO and the Austrian Embassy to Mongolia on 1 September 2016 at 15:00 in the Conference Hall of the Open Society Forum, Mongolia.  We estimate that 20-25 representatives of the Mongolian media and civil society organizations will be attending the seminar. Violence against women is a global scourge. In Europe, a study by the Fundamental Rights Agency of the European Union found in 2014 that more than one third (33%) of women in Europe have experience physical and/or sexual violence, and 55% of women have experienced some form of sexual harassment in their life.  Also in Austria, the majority of women experience some form of psychological violence, sexual harassment or physical violence. Austria focuses on gender equality in its intercultural dialogue activities, and on women's rights in its international engagement on human rights. Given that no country can be complacent on violence against women, Austria considers international exchange on this issue to be of global relevance.

Ms. Rosa Logar has been working since 1978 in the area of preventing violence against women and domestic violence. She is the Executive Director of the "Intervention Center on Violence in the Family", a gender-sensitive non-governmental centre for victims of violence against women and domestic violence in Vienna, which serves about 6 000 survivors a year. She has contributed to the development of laws and policy measures in Austria and internationally, and is a Member of the Council of Europe Task Force to Combat Violence against Women 2006-2008 and of the Ad Hoc Committee on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (CAHVIO) 2008-2010. Her motto is: "I believe in, and work for, the right of everyone, especially every woman and every child, to live free of violence!"

The visit is supported by the Austrian Embassy to Mongolia.
