International standards on freedom of expression and the Internet
Globe International Center (GIC), a Mongolian NGO is planning to conduct a Joint International Experts Mission (called "the Mission") providing capacity building on international standards on freedom of expression and the Internet, and covering the topics including:
- International standards on freedom of expression and the Internet;
- The Internet Governance global debate;
- Internet and Privacy;
- Child online protection;
- Prevention of spam;
- The role of education in how to use the Internet in an informed manner;
- A holistic approach to achieve inclusive knowledge society;
- Social media and ethics
- Data protection and cyber crime
The Mission shall last at least five working days, and the Mission’s capacity building and advocacy work shall target at least 50 relevant civil servants and decision makers involved in the drafting of laws and regulations affecting digital media and cyberspace development, media professionals, IT developers, and community/citizen journalists.
The consultation round table will be organised by GIC in cooperation with the Open Society Forum (OSF) and Tsakhim Urtuu Network. We are expecting to gather a wide range of stakeholders such as media, civil society, lawyers, government, academicians and legislators as well as national and international experts to contribute to the freedom of expression issues including Internet by sharing their experiences and best practices.
