Cooperation contract signed

The executive committee of the  Confederation of Mongolian Journalists (CMJ) and the Trade Unions of the Mongolia (TUM) signed a  three-year cooperation contract (2011-2013), on December 3, 2010.

In accordance with the contract, the sides will cooperate in protecting interests of journalists, improving working conditions for them, and increasing their wages, allowances, and social and health insurance.

Pursuant to the contract, the UCMJ has the following rights and responsibilities:

- To create trade union groups at the CMJ’s branches and to carry out activities for developing specialized journalism on the life and activities of the trade unions and labor relations, and on human rights.

- To propagandize activities and struggles by the TUM to protect basic interests of citizens, reduce the jobless and poverty, raise salaries and allowances and improve social insurance.

The TUM has the responsibility to support the CMJ by joining the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ). In addition, the TUM will work to plan and organize regional training for journalists, and to enable  senior and women journalists to reside in the TUM’s sanatoria or rest homes every year at substantially reduced rates.
