Starting new project titled “Transparency Campaigning at Local Government to Curb Corruption“

Globe International started to implement the 12-month project titled “Transparency Campaigning at Local Government to Curb Corruption” from 15 August 2010 under the financial support of Partnership for Transparency Foundation of USA.  Main impact of the proposed project is that local people will be able to access the local government information.

The project activities will be mainly carried out in the provinces, particularly two baghs of two soums: Baynakhutag (Khentii aimag) and Guchin-Us (Uvurkhangai aimag).

Project will address problems:
- Lack of awareness of the local citizens and local officials ,  on the public’s right to access to information, nature, importance, principles and international standards of  freedom of information and need for legislation
- Lack of  information held by the local public organizations 
-  Lack of the participation of local citizens in the local government affairs 
Lack of skills of the local grassroots to take public control

The proposed project goal is to improve the transparency of the local public organizations to curb corruption.
