He is scheduled to leave for Seoul, South Korea, for his operation on December 8.

Byamba-Ochir B. was covering the demonstration in front of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party (MPRP) building, where it was reported that several thousand people gathered to protest the results of the 2008 General Elections, escalating into a full-scale riot. He suffered serious head injuries while covering the riots and was admitted to the Trauma Orthopaedic Centre in Ulaanbaatar, where he underwent surgery on an epidural haematoma and to remove bone fragments lodged in his brain. He requires further surgery in a procedure that cannot be performed in Mongolia.
