Z.Altai, Channel 25
I think there are freedom of expression and freedom to publish, but restrictions are needed for anything. The media and journalists’ activities should be supervised, if it relates to matters of personal reputations or harms national security. We should not act like journalists have absolute power. Here we do not censor our journalists who work within the law. In order to be more responsible, we take internal control.
I do not deny that there are some pressures coming from the founders on things that may affect their interests and opinions. We have not faced much government pressure. There were some attempts of the government to indirectly influence our channel during the 2004 Parliamentarian Elections. I personally felt that there could be pressure depending on who comes to the power.
