MONGOLIA: TV journalist threatened

Mr.U.Bum-Yalagch, the Deputy head of Mongolian Green Party has assualted several TV journalists accusing them “Why, for what reason you didn’t mentioned our Party name in your written article. The Political party’ name should be written before the civil society movement’s name”. It was happened in the press conference organized by some Civil Soceity movements at the Information center of “ Mongolnews” company on April 10, 2006.
When Mr G.Myanganbayar, TV journalist from UBS tried to explain a reason of the happening, Mr.U.Bum-Yalagch has threathened him “ If you are asking a big trouble you’ll got it. While troubling you I can do everything for mentioning our party name in the newspapers and TV programmes”.
While his colleagues, including journalists of Mongolian National Public Radio, “Ardyn erkh” newspaper who attended at the press conference protested this threat Mr.U.Bum-Yalagch said that” You, journalists are main quilty party that the current Mongolain soceity have now being confused”
Representatives of the various Civil movements had tried to resolve this conflict and also stated that “This is the position only of the Mongolian Green Party not ours”.
Journalists promoted discussion around this happened conflict and expressed that there many journalists and media which are serving for an interest of political parties and business groups however journalist itself should deliver a message about the most of Mongolian journalists who have been working to disseminate an unbiased information to the public.
