“Community media for community development” advocacy seminar is going to be held on December 14, 2012 at Open Society Forum Conference Hall. The seminar will be organized by Globe International NGO in conjunction with the Office of the President of Mongolia and UNESCO, Beijing Office. Ms. Sezin Sinanoglu, UN Resident Coordinator and Representative of the UNDP and M.Batchimeg, Member of Parliament will give opening speech.

3rd EU Film Festival in Mongolia

The third annual European Union Film Festival in Mongolia is being held this year in Ulaanbaatar from November the 22nd to the 25th. The EU Film Festival is organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Mongolia in partnership with the Black Box Theatre and Globe International NGO.
Cooperation with Media to Raise Public Awareness on ASM Issues

Globe International, NGO completed the project “Cooperation with Media to Raise Public Awareness on ASM Issues” to facilitate the implementation of the awareness development activities on ASM through media. SAM hired Globe International, a media development NGO to render the specific tasks outlined in the contract for a period June 2012 through October 2012.
Globe International organized staged reading based on true stories

In the framework of the Ask! campaign implemented since June, 2012 with the support of IFEX, Globe International organized the staged reading on November 7, 2012 at Black Box theatre. Staged reading or reader`s theatre based on true stories of two journalists who face criminal defamation conviction for their publication. These two stories were produced to playwrights and titled “Big brother” and “Never late”.

Globe International is deeply concerned about the criminal defamation charges brought against editor-in-chef of Ulaanbaatar Times daily newspaper Do.Chuluunbaatar. On 2 August 2012 the Sukhbaatar District Court convicted him under the Mongolian Criminal Code.

Globe International is deeply concerned about the criminal defamation charges brought against female journalist D.Bolormaa from Zuunii Medee (Century News) daily newspaper. The Sukhbaatar District Court convicted the journalist under Article 111/2 of the Mongolian Criminal Code and sentenced her to pay compensation 61 times higher than the minimum wage (approx. US$6.200).
The training for judges was conducted

Globe International NGO, UNESCO National Commision and National Legal Institute have organised one-day training for the Mongolian judges on freedom of expression. This is a part of a series of the lawyers’ trainings. In June 2012, the training for the defence lawyers was conducted.
