Globe International Center, a Mongolian NGO is holding an International Round table “Access to Information and Fundamental Freedoms. This is Your Right!” to mark the May 3 - World Press Freedom Day (WPFD).

Access to Information and Fundamental Freedoms — This Is Your Right! Access to Information is a fundamental freedom and part of the basic human right to freedom of expression. Receiving and imparting information, both offline and online, is a cornerstone of democracy, good governance, and rule of law.

GIC actively worked to increase its transparency and information openness through monitoring, training of public officials and building monitoring skills for the citizens by helping the local and national public agencies. We spent seven years for lobbying the FoI Law by changing the tactics and raising awareness of MPs, decision makers and the public until the Parliament passed the Law on Information Transparency and Right to Information in June 2011.

Globe International Center organized on 27 April 2016 Diplomatic Briefing to inform the international community on the process and progress of implementation the UPR recommendations on Freedom of expression and opinion which were delivered during Mongolia’s human rights review in May, 2015.

On May 5, 2015, the UN Human Rights Council has reviewed the Mongolian national submission for the Human Rights Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in Geneva and eight recommendations regarding freedom of expression made by Member States.

Globe International Center, a Mongolian NGO in cooperation with Open Society Forum and Confederation of Mongolian Journalists under the support of UNESCO, Beijing Office is holding an International Round table “Access to Information and Fundamental Freedoms. This is Your Right!” to mark the May 3 - World Press Freedom Day (WPFD). The Event is scheduled on 3 May, 2016 in the conference hall of the Open Society Forum from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm.

Over three months has passed since Luntan Bolormaa, a female journalist and publicist, was found dead at her home on the night of 21 November 2015. Bolormaa’s family members, friends, relatives, co-workers, the journalism community and the public are anxious for Police to investigate and report on her sudden death.

Odriin Sonin (Daily News) published an article titled: “Fact of laundering ‘New railway’ project’s 42 mln. USD in South Korea to be recorded” in issue No.279 on November 19, 2015. Undesnii Shuudan (National Post), a daily newspaper, also published two articles titled: “960 billion hidden behind an Amnesty Law” and “Private companies to be cheated by partnership” in issues No.156 and No.157 on August 19 and 20, 2015.
