The Globe International Center cooperated in the activities of the first edition of "Kharkhorum" international film festival organized for the first time in Mongolia.
"Kharkhorum" international film festival was organized in Ulaanbaatar on December 7-12, 2023 by Film Bridge Development Association in cooperation with the Mongolian National Film Council and with financial support of the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia. The theme of the 2023 "Kharhorum" film festival was "Human rights-75" in honor of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
As part of the "Empowerment Program" of the Kharkhorum film festival, The Globe International Center worked as a co-organizer of the training for young filmmakers "Narrating human rights through cinema" on December 9, 2023, and the "Declaring human rights through cinema" forum on December 10, 2023 in the auditorium of Chinggis Khaan museum.
Within the framework of the festival, 46 people participated in a one-day training course for young filmmakers and producers. In the training, international film experts and human rights experts hosted lectures, did practical work and exchanged ideas. Speakers gave interesting recommendations to the filmmakers who intend to make films on human rights issues, focusing on creating opportunities to create films that do not make human rights mistakes in the future, and to help them through professional communication.
A total of 136 human rights defenders, experts, academics, and filmmakers participated in the public discussion "Declaring human rights through cinema" which was organized on the International Human Rights Day. Also, about 100 people watched the live streaming of the forum which aired through “Live Streaming Service” among country. Speakers brought together representatives of civil society, research, and government organizations in the field of film and screen, and exchanged opinions with civil organizations and citizens. The Forum issued a Recommendation to call all filmmakers and content creators to unite their efforts in learning to properly show human rights in their future works. The event was organized with the interpretation of a sign language interpreter in order to ensure the equality of human rights, which was widely appreciated by public.
